Susannah's 3rd Birthday!!

Today Susie turned 3! We celebrated her birthday with her best friend from church, McKynna. McKynna turned 3 yesterday, so we had a joint family party.....they had so much fun and she loved her Barbie cake!! 

Small group

On Sunday nights we have a small group bible study here at our house. Our group has been meeting for over a year and we are all really good friends. We eat dinner and then we have a bible study. The girls get to watch a movie while we are having our bible study and usually stay pretty quiet. Two weeks ago in the middle of our study, Grace runs in and says, "Mom, I just went poop and it was this long (and stretched out her arms like she had caught a big fish), come and see it, it won't flush!!" I was mortified. These are our friends, mind you, and they are all under 30 without kids, so they all just lost it and started laughing. I, on the other hand, had to control the poop problem in the restroom. She was right, it wouldn't flush, at first, but we took care of it and went back to our study after a laugh.
This past Sunday night, we are all gathered in the kitchen eating sloppy joes (my mom's great recipe) and the girls are sitting up at the bar eating their dinner. We're all just talking and out of no where Grace belts out, "WHAT THE HELL!!"....I was shocked....I grabbed her down from the bar and took her upstairs. Her eyes were so big. She said, "What is hell, Mom?" "Why can't I say that word?" "Am I in trouble?" So we chatted about where she had heard that and all that stuff...and then the girls went in and watched their movie and then went to bed. After they got off to bed, the whole small group just busted out laughing, except for me, of course and Aaron was off at work. Oh, just wait until they are all married and have kids that say embarrassing things!! We will see how they laugh then!!

Parade and Bonfire!

Last night we took the kids to the Homecoming Parade and Bonfire down at the old Ag Barn, here in Graham. It was great. The parade had all the homecoming girls, the band, the cheerleaders, the seniors float, and don't forget the football team. The team rode in on the tops of the firetrucks. It was great. Short, but they threw candy, so the girls thought that it was great. When we saw what side of the street that the parade was coming in on, we switched sides really quick and there were no other kids around us, so the girls loved it. More candy for me to hide on top of the fridge, with last years Valentine and Halloween candy, right? We went to Old Navy last weekend when we went to Abilene for the Wylie game. The guy at the check out was like, "Is Graham doing something here in Abilene tonight, I keep seeing lots of Graham people here." Well, yah, we're playing their football team, but we all had to get our Old Navy fix in first!!
Waiting for the parade to start...it was a little late from the 6:30 start time, but we had a nice time walking around the courtsquare downtown.
Here is a shot of the parade...the girl in the yellow car is who Grace wants to win. She was her coach at cheer camp. The football float gave the girls the most candy, because some of the boys from church spotted them and told their friends to throw it to the girls...Thanks guys, and our dentist REALLY thanks you, too!!
This is the bonfire when it had all ready fallen and was towards the end. Grace did not like it one bit and was scared to get even this close....it was a fun evening of small town homecoming football festivities!! Tonight is the big game!!

Party, party, party!!

We were all invited this weekend to a birthday party from one of the girls' friends from church. Claire turned 5 and it was a fun party for all....Claire and her sweet family live a few minutes outside of town and they have 2 horses, a goat, 4 or 5 dogs and a lot of cats (that we didn't see at all, they were all hiding from all the kids, pretty smart cats, I'd say!) It was a great time...the kids went on a hay ride around the property, rode horses and played with the goat!! Us adults watched the kids having fun and just sat around and enjoyed the afternoon. The party ended just in time for us to get home to watch the Tennessee vs. Florida game. Tennessee lost and things were pretty dreary at our house for the rest of the night....I think we even went to bed early!! Oh, the Graham Steers lost Friday night, too. We had a great time in Abilene and the weather was amazing...it might almost be turning to fall here!! Hopefully the Steers will fare better this weekend here at home....it's Homecoming so we have to win, right? I hope we can get back to Abilene with more daylight. I would love to see the campus at ACU and do a little more shopping!!
Here is Susie yesterday after church. It is her bubble dress, just like Aunt Jess had when she was little...she was posing for the camera and Aaron was trying to watch the Colts play!!
The kids also took a turn with the pinata. They each had a cup to put their candy in after the pinata broke...Grace got 3 really good hits in and then the boy right after her knocked the candy right out and the kids made this pile below!!!
We love being here in Graham with our great friends. God really has blessed us with a great church and a wonderful and loving church family!! 

Off to Abilene

Tonight the Graham Steers play Abilene Wiley and we are off to the big city to watch the game. We have never been to Abilene so I'm really excited. I need to do a little shopping and I hope I can find everything that I need before the kick-off at 7:30 tonight!! Go Steers!!

Susie's first day of Ballet

This is Susannah outside of the dance studio. The sun was in her eyes, so she wouldn't look up!

I can't tell what she liked more, being big enough to go to ballet/tap class or the gum that they get at the end of class. I think that she just likes getting dressed up!!

Help and cheer camp

Well, I need a little help. I'm on the Ladies Day/ Fall Brunch committee and we are looking for a speaker for our day. We don't have a date yet for the event, but I assume that it is in mid-October. Does anyone know of any ladies that do that kind of stuff in this area? Yes, I know that there are dozens upon dozens of women in Searcy who could do this, but we have a tiny budget and I don't think that we could pay someone to come that far...Of course, if Miss Tammie and Tim would like to come to Texas and visit us and just happen to want to speak at our day, that would be okay, too. he he he
So, if you know of anyone in the North Texas, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Abilene area who would be good at this, would you let me know their name? Thanks!!!

Here is a picture of Grace from cheerleading camp a few weeks ago....the high school girls put it on and she just loved it. They learned some cheers and then they performed at the Graham Steers first home game the other night...they were all pretty cute out there doing their little cheers. Susie cried because she knew the cheers, but didn't get to go out with her sister to do them! She loves her big sister, Grace. She starts ballet and tap tomorrow morning, so I'll have to post some pictures when we get home!

Are you ready for some football?

Yes, football season has begun and boy am I so excited!! On Saturday we watched some good (and very close games-Vols and Florida State, don't scare us like that again!) games. Texas lost and that made us sad. Not that we are big Texas fans. The quarterback for Texas this year, Colt McCoy, goes to our church when he is home here in Graham. He is just such a nice, christian boy that comes from a great family. His dad, Brad McCoy, is the head football coach for our high school team here in Graham. He is a great coach, but more important, a great dad and wonderful christian teacher. He taught our young (well, semi-young) adults bible class last year and it was probably, no, it was, the best bible study class that I have been a part of so far. Coach McCoy studies and puts so much into his classes, it was great. Anyway, enough about Coach. His oldest son, Colt is the new QB for Texas and we are just enjoying watching him play. Of course, we would all be enjoying it much more if they could have beat Ohio State on Saturday, but Colt is a freshman and can't do everything. We were told that when Texas wins on Saturdays, they eat a great meal of steak and lobster on Sunday night together as a team and when they lose on Saturday, they have to eat beanie weenies. Of course, for me that isn't too bad. I love beanie weenies, but if you are a Texas football player, I'm sure you are not too happy.
We also started our fanasty league this weekend with the start of the NFL season. Last night was the Manning vs. Manning game, which was great. Although, my tight end was on Eli's team, I still pulled for Peyton. Aaron and Parker had on their Peyton Manning jerseys and the girls had on their little colts cheerleading outfits. They were too cute...I'll have to get a pic of them all next Sunday in their Colts blue! Susie kept yelling,"Go Colt, throw the ball"....She kept confusing the Colts team with Colt McCoy who played on Saturday. We tried to straighten her out, but just gave up because her cheer was soo cute! The girls love to watch (and cheer) for football!!
