The girls are really excited about Halloween this year. Mainly because they get to dress up as 2 different characters this year. Friday at school is the book character parade and they get to dress as their favorite book character for the whole day. Grace is going as Nancy Drew and Susie is going as Fancy Nancy. They are so ready for Friday to be here! For Trunk or Treat on Wednesday night and for our small group Halloween party, we are all dressing up as characters from Peter Pan. I'll post pics on Thursday and you can decide if you like our costumes or not! One clue as to who is who...the littlest member of our Peter Pan crew has been wearing his little feathered hat everywhere. I just hope I can get his little pretend knife/sword hidden before church Wednesday night because they can't bring them to AWANA! :)

Rain, Rain...Go Away...
Come again another day...
It seems like our family has been singing this song all month! Softball season for the girls was to last from Oct. 1-Oct. 31. They would practice during the week and have 2 games each on Saturdays. Well....it rained for the first 3 Saturdays so now we are going to be playing during the week and the weekends. No big. Until today....
Today's rain (POURING!) will cancel our make-up games for tomorrow...so it looks like Sus and Grace will be playing softball until Thanksgiving. Turkey and Softball....gobble gobble!!

In need of a lazy day!
This past week was full of action packed activities...look out... many pictures are coming!
Grace and Susannah finally got to play their first softball games on Saturday...only 3 weeks after the season should have started! We were so thankful for the beautiful sunshine and cooler temperatures. We left the house at 7:30 AM and got home that afternnoon at 3:00 PM. It was a great day full of fun games! We were so thankful that we (meaning, me) forgot to put sunscreen on any of us. Because of the cooler temps, we were all covered up, except for our faces. So, on Sunday morning at church, we all had nice and sunburned faces!!! Oh well...we won't forget tomorrow to wear our sunscreen, for sure! :)
Aaron took the kids to school on Tuesday and I went and helped Susannah's teacher prepare for the first kindergarten field trip. It was great!! We went to the pumpkin patch and it was perfect pumpkin patch weather. They had such a fun time and I so enjoyed spending the day with just Susie Q!
She loved this game...they would pump the water and it would move a rubber duckie down the shute...it was a contest and of course, she wanted to win!
Wednesday, Parker and I drove to the museum district in Houston and spent the day at the Children's Museum. It was great!! We met one of my friends from when I went to high school in Tallahassee. I haven't seen Tonya since the 11th grade when our family moved back to Arkansas. It was a fun Godby High Reunion and a great day for the kids at the museum. Her 2 little ones were great and Parker loved being with them. We can't wait for Tonya to bring them back in town again for a Zoo visit, next time!
Yesterday was to be Grace's class' turn to visit the Pumpkin Patch. Unfortunately, it rained most of the day on Wednesday and Thursday morning, so they cancelled the field trip. We had one disappointed 3rd grader, for sure! Aaron had already planned to stay at home that day and work from home so that he could take Parker to school for me to attend the field trip with Grace. Lucky for me...he stayed home even though the trip was cancelled. We had a great day. I did a little halloween costume parts shopping (Michael's and Hobby Lobby) and Aaron did a little work. He took me out for a great lunch and then we went furniture shopping before we had to pick up Parker from school. We really do cherish our time together here...When we were in Ft. Worth, we had babysitters pretty much anytime we needed them. Here...not so much! So, the lunch date was perfect!
Today, I have decided to declare "LAZY DAY!!" for me and Parker. We are still in our P.J's and he is enjoying his Sesame Street and I am sitting with him while I'm on the laptop. It's perfect and we may just stay here!! The gym, the dishes and the laundry can wait. Today is a day with my little man. Happy Lazy Day from us!!

No Motivation....
Yes, this is my gym time. For some reason....I am soo not motivated this morning. It could be the cooler weather...it's 68 degrees! Yippe! Or it could be that Aaron is out of town and I just didn't sleep as good as I do when he is here.
Who knows? I do know that it's 9:25 and I'm still in the clothes that I took the girls to school in over an hour ago. That means I am wearing the t-shirt that I slept in, a pair of jeans that I ran in and grabbed off to hanger and then my tevas. Oh yeah, and I still have on my glasses. For a while when school started, I would put in my contacts and make a little effort to look okay in the drop off line. Why? I have no idea. It was very short-lived, let me tell you.
Now, Parker gets in the car in his jammies and I in my glasses. This morning is the morning that we see not one family, but two families walking to school that we know. We waved, but I'm sure they were thinking, "Who in the world is that woman with the glasses and bad hair?" Oh well....maybe they will figure it out and maybe they won't!
Okay, now I have a little more motivation to go and get on the gym clothes. Now, if the fast lady doesn't get on the treadmill beside me, I will be great. Let's see if I can really make it to the Y without any detours...here's hoping!

I love boots!
My little sister, Jessica, is a fashion diva. Really. I have not a decorating or fashion gene in my body....every one of those genes went to Jess. The good thing about that is: 1. Jess works for a great fashion company and gets really good discounts on clothes. 2. We wear the same size. 3. I love hand me downs from my little sister!!
The one thing that I have grown to learn the past few years, is that every girl needs a good pair of boots in the winter. I think Jess has rubbed off on me a little...I think I have 10 pairs in the closet right now and I love wearing them!! Having lived though a few Alaska winters, I do know how you need a great pair of boots in the real winter. Here in Houston, I don't think I will have much use for my UGG boots or my tall leather boots, but that doesn't keep me from entering a contest to win new boots!
Go to this website, and then put the cool widget on your blog and maybe you can win a new pair of boots, too!! Oh...and Jess...come and visit...I may not need anymore boots, but I sure could use some decorating help on the house!!! Love you!

Too much!!
Last night Grace had softball practice. Did I mention that the fields here in Katy are 35 minutes from our house?? EGGG! Sometimes I dread softball practice so much on Tuesday and Thursdays. We rush home from school, get a snack, race though their homework and then run out the door to get in the car. I do enjoy the 35 minutes in the car because the kids usually take a nap and I get some quiet time, but it's the rushing around part that gets my goose every time!!
Once we get out to practice, it's great. The weather has been unbelievable! Everyone told us that Houston was going to be so hot and humid. To tell the truth...I like it. Actually, I love it! We've had some great breezes the past 2 weeks on practice nights and I love watching Grace do something that she loves and is actually really good at...softball.
The practice is no stress...USUALLY. Most nights, we get out there and we are the only team practicing so Susannah and Parker can just run around and play. I love it.
Last night was a different story for a few reasons.
Parker runs up to me about 6:00..."MOMMY, I HAVE to POOP!" Let me tell you...those are not words you want to hear from your 3 year old when you are at fields where the bathrooms are LOCKED, yes LOCKED, during the week. And then he kept saying it. "Mommy, I have to POOOP!!" Realize...he is getting louder each time and there are stands full of mommies that are watching their kids practice, too.
So, what do you do?? I took him out behind a building that houses the locked bathrooms (uggh!) and I let him do his thing. Yes, I did. Lucky for me...I always have wipes and LOTS of hand sanitizer in my purse. So we took care of business and cleaned up our business. Children in this case, are just like dogs...You have to clean up your messes in public places. (I also had a wal-mart bag in my purse, how or why, I have no idea, but boy am I thankful!!)
Okay...I know...TMI...but then when we got back from that whole Parker situation, Susannah is standing on the bleaches yelling, "MOM!!" I run over...Yep.

She pulled her first tooth! She was so excited!!! So, we did 2 things for the first time. Out at the ballpark. Lovely, I know. But, it's something to remember, so I blog!!

Happy Loosing your first tooth, Susie Q! First you turn 6 years old and then the next day, you loose your first tooth!! What an exciting week! Now we need to go and spend all that money you got from your birthday and the tooth fairy....Whooo Hooo!!
