Right now Hurricane Katrina is on it's way to New Orleans. As many of you may remember, we lived in Houma, LA which is one hour SOUTH of New Orleans when Grace was a baby. They have evacuated our old Parish (we call them counties) and all the rest of southern Louisiana. We have some friends that are on the road as I type. They left this morning at 7:30 A.M. and as of 8:30 P.M. they were still not out of the state. That is some crazy driving my friends...They are on their way to Dallas and if they can't find somewhere to stay there (with their kids and dogs and what they could cram in the car) they are coming here to our house. There are about 12 of them from our old church in Houma, all together traveling. Please send some major prayers up for our friends and all the people that are about to go thru some major distruction in their lives. We sat out 2 pretty big hurricanes when we lived there, but they were NOTHING compared to this one that is coming. I'd type more, but all this is just making me so sad to think about.

Starting school and birthdays...
This week was full of events.
1. The new carpet that I wrote about earlier. I am still in love with it....it is just so nice to be able to walk barefoot in my own home again!!
2. GRACE STARTED SCHOOL!!! Okay, not real school, but she goes to a little private Pre-K 2 days a week. But it is all day and she just loves it. When I went to pick her up on Wednesday, her face was just as red as can be from playing so hard on the playground (she gets that from me and I get that from my sweet mother.) She talked up a blue streak when we picked her up. It was so funny that I got out the video camera when we got home. I just had to get a little video to show her daddy when he got home. This morning she is at school for the second day. She goes on Wednesdays and Fridays. Today was special because her Daddy took her on his way to work and she got to ride in his car. She also got a new little outfit...little capris and purple shirt. Her aunt Jess would be so proud of her little fashion bug neice. :)
3. My little brother, Jon, who is not so little anymore, is going to go back to school. I'm so excited for him and his decision to make his life better. He is sooo smart. I know this because he is the only one of the 4 of us kids that can actually do math and understand what and why it happens. He will make a great engineer and I'm very proud to be his big sister.
4. Susannah and I have been having a great time together. She gets to watch her Dora and I get to blog for just a little while. In a little while, we are off to shop and go to the bank. She is sooo funny. We had corn on the cob again and she ate a ton and didn't miss a kernel!! She is stringing together words now and her little sentences are soooo funny. Her best phrase is, "I'm coming, Grace, wait (for) me!" and "I love you, too" that is my favorite one to hear!
5. I got my hair chopped off. I realized that I'm no longer 20 and long hair (on me) makes me look like a old hippie. Even more so because I really like to wear this tye-dyed t-shirt that I got at this great pizza place in Anchorage, Alaska, called the Mooses Tooth. They make the best pizza (except for my brother, Jeremy's homemade pizza) and they brew their own root beer, cream soda, and beer. I got my hair not too short as to upset my sister, like I cut it after Grace was born...she said I looked like my little brother, Jon, because it was too short...boy cut. This time, I just got a bob and it's so much easier and by George, it is WAY cooler in the heat!!! I'm enjoying it.
6. And last, my 31st (gasp!) birthday was this week. Aaron got me some beautiful white roses and an i pod shuffle (for ALL the running that I'm doing in this Texas heat, you know!) Then he and the girls made me a cake....themselves. We have been together for 8 years and I have never gotten a cake until this year....the wait was worth it. They did everything themselves and I loved it! I'll put a picture on later.
We've had a fun week. I'm off to play with my youngest daughter and enjoy our day together!

New Carpet!
I am sooo amazed! This morning at 8:40 the carpet men came and totally turned our house upside down. But when they left, it was BEAUTIFUL!! I didn't realize what a difference new carpet would make. Of course, the 20 year old berber carpet that was in here was disgusting and when they pulled it up, it was even sicker...you would not believe the number of stains and then there was standing dirt on the carpet pad. It looked like someone poured dirt in our living room. YUCK!! There were more stains than clean spots...that is pretty bad.
The girls and I mostly played outside...it was a beautiful 100 degree day, but it felt great under our big shade tree! Grace starts school on Wednesday and she is sooo excited. Of course, her teacher was pretty funny. We went to meet the teacher day on Friday and she tells us that they will learn how to count to 10 and learn all their letters. I hated to tell her that SUS can count to 15, and Grace has known all her letters and sounds for I don't know how long, but that's okay. She is going for the social part...she needs to learn how to get along with kids her own age and sit still outside of watching T.V. She is so very happy that we are letting her go to school, I just hope she has a great time. She is such the cute trooper with her little Barbie lunchbox!
Oh, I forgot. Aaron and I have teamed up this year to play in a Fanasty Football league. We had our draft this past weekend. We got to pick 11th out of 12 owners....pretty sad. We got a pretty good team, hopefully T.O will come back and be nice to his team and score us some points. I'm off to watch some pre-season football....Cowboys vs. Seahawks (a Searcy boy is on their team, so I might have to become a fan if they let Jeb play!)

Broken Foot
Yesterday was quite a busy day for us. We were having a great day, I was getting so much done during Sus' naptime. I should have known it was too good to last. Grace decided that Daisy (the new puppy, 3 months old) needed to go outside. I told her to go ahead and take her out. About 5 minutes later, I hear this terrible screeching noise. Daisy was in the grass rolling around on her back, just crying. I assumed that she had been bit by something, so we are looking thru the grass for some kind of mean insect. Couldn't find anything, so I took her in and got her something to drink. While she is drinking I said, "Daisy, (talking to the pup) I wish I knew what bit you." Grace replies,"I don't know Mommy, I just threw her in the grass and then she started crying." I couldn't believe it...."You WHAT? You threw her in the grass?" Needless to say, she will not be putting the puppy in the grass anymore. So, then we got up Sus, called the Vet, ours doesn't work on Wednesdays we found out, so we found another. They could see us in 45 mins. So, we get Daisy and her very broken looking leg and load up. We get to the vet (he is very nice) and sure enough, her foot is broken and she has to spend the night....
So, we went this morning to pick up our little pup, cast and all. She is pretty sad, but she is getting around. I think Grace is the one who is really sad, she got all of her Barbies taken away...."When do I get them back, mommy?" I really don't know, Grace....Mi Vida Loca!!

The frog kiss
Okay, today we were working out in the yard all day. (Yes, I know it is my anniversary, but we were together, so it was fun.) We were lifting up these paving stones from up beside the house and then we made a path with them in the backyard. You'll just have to see it, I can't describe it very well. Anyway, when we lifted up one of these big stones (they are like 20"x20") a big frog just jumps out and scared us. It was too funny. Well, then Grace was scared and we told her that frogs weren't scary and Aaron showed her how to catch the frog and hold it right. Then she proceeds to kiss the frog and name it "Cutie", she then is singing to the frog and dancing around the yard with him. It was soooooo funny. Then we found another frog and she put down Cutie to catch it and she named it "Beauty"...more kissing went on and no prince was to be found so I made her quit kissing the frogs and then she was sad when we wouldn't let her pick them up anymore. "Mommy, I will miss Cutie and Beauty so much, can we come out and play with them tomorrow?" Ah, we'll just have to wait and see.....
Oh, and I got a wonderful surprise in the mail today from my friend Amber in Alaska....I love to read and I got a new book!! Thanks Am, you are the best!

Fun weekend!
This weekend Aaron had some jobs out of town, so the girls and I loaded up and went up to Duncan, OK for a fun time with friends. We stayed with my friends Brad and Toni and their 4 girls, which meant with my 2 little girls, that there were 8 girls and 1 Brad. Sorry, Brad, you are out numbered all of the time anyway, but this weekend was just crazy! The girls and I had a blast. Grace was in Polly Pocket heaven. That is all she talked about on the way home. "Ms. Toni was so nice to let me take the Polly Pocket bag to the baby shower, Mommy. I think we need one, too." I told her that she could just wait until we go back to visit and play with them at their house instead. Susannah was a little off kilter, but what almost 2 year old isn't when we mess with their bedtime and nap! Oh well, she is asleep now, so no biggie. We just had a great time! Thanks Brad and Toni.
Then today we got to go to our old church and it was just like being back at home. It just felt so good to be back there with friends. After church we all went (well, not the whole church, but a big group of us) to eat and it was sooo choatic that it was wonderful. Grace got to sit at a table with the "big kids" and she did great. Then all us women folk (as they used to say) went to the church building and had a WONDERFUL time at Lara's baby shower for her little angel baby! Lara and Craig have 3 of the cutest boys and now they have a simply adorable little girl to add to the family. It was fun to be with old friends and tell "remember when" stories. I was just glad to have been a part of so much fun.
Then we piled on in the car and drove back here, but we stopped on the way home in Wichita Falls at our favorite Best Buy, for tomorrow is our 7th wedding anniversary and we were off to find a special something for Aaron. They didn't have what I wanted, but maybe they will be Christmas, because we know what the boy wants for his 30th birthday in November...the new x-box 360, that is supposted to be out by then. We will see, won't we?
