The kids and I are in Searcy at my parents house. I know, I know...I should be at home, but why?? It's summer and we are about to move a good 9 hours away from my parents in a few weeks so we are going to have a fun visit while we can. Also, I came to pick up the kids and stay for a few days while the house gets on the market. Little did we know...
Very long story made short...the 2 realtors who are hired by the relocation company to give us their "opinion" on how much the house should sell for, had numbers that were over $40,000 a part...ugg! So the relo company had to send our "case" to a third party to review and decide on what price we should put the house at. Everyday I would call and ask our relo coordinator what was going on...I'm sure she already is tired of me, but goodness...I want to get my house on the market!! Aaron's company will buy our house after 3 months on the market so they don't want it mispriced, so they get one of the final says on the house price. Anyway, all of that leads to the fact that our house is STILL not on the market and I'm a little miffed, but I'll get over it.
Tomorrow is Parker's 3rd birthday and we are going to celebrate it at my sister's house with a pool party. He keeps walking around saying, "Today I am 2, but tomorrow I will be 3!!" He is just a little excited! So, for now we are staying here at my parents house and will be home on Thursday when Aaron gets to come home too. That way we will all be at home together...I just really don't want to be there without him...it's just not home if we all aren't together!

Why my kids are excited about Houston
Everyone keeps asking how the kids are about the move. Very good question, after all they have great friends and so many fun things that they are all involved in here in Ft. Worth. Two weeks ago, Aaron was down in Houston teaching a class in the training center for another instructor (kinda convenient, if you ask me...they just sucked him in...) and he was staying in a really nice hotel in Houston.
School is out, daddy is out of town...so what do we do? We go and visit Daddy for the weekend and have a blast!! We didn't know we were moving. We had not a clue. Had we've known then what we know now....hmmm. I don't think we would have been doing all of these fun things.....
We went to the Museum of Natural Sciences. This is one of their favorite places to go when we visit Houston. Now Grace wants to get a "Museum Pass" so that she can all of the time!
There is a beautiful garden next door to the Museum and it was full of thousands of roses. You name it, it was there. The kids loved walking though all of the flowers and seeing how each rose smelled differently.
I think we spend more time in the Museum district than anywhere when we go down to Houston. I honestly think that my kids think it is a play city!
We also ate out every meal, went to see Night at the Smithsonian and UP! Yes, they haven't even thought about the impact of the move quite completely....It will hit them when we get down there and their friends are still here, but otherwise my kids think that Houston is a party city.

Yes, it is official
Aaron got the "official" letter from his company last week and he accepted the transfer to Houston. We leave on Friday morning to start our house hunting trip and Aaron starts work on Monday. His company doesn't mess around with the whole moving thing. They tell you that you are going to move and then you pretty much start very soon after. I think this move is already been the hardest and we haven't even put the house on the market or gone and looked at houses.
When we moved here, we thought this was the last move. We thought we were going to get to retire here...goodness, we've already moved 7 times in (almost) 11 years of marriage and we aren't even in the military! We picked out this house because it was in one of the top schools in a great school district. I could picture my kids hanging out with their friends in the game room upstairs as teenagers. We picked out this house with that and so many other things in mind.
But, as we have learned and I'm sure you have as well, sometimes God has other plans. Bigger and better plans that we have no idea are in store for us. I know that is the case here. As much as I dread leaving my friends who have become sisters and uprooting my kids from their wonderful friendships at church and at school....God is in control and He ALWAYS has a plan. So, over the next month, you may have to remind me of that plan and that is okay. I can look back at every single one of our moves and see so very much of God's work in our lives. When we get to Houston and can look back, I will see that God put us in a wonderful, caring and loving church home where we have made some of our closest friends, ever. That will never change and for that, I am so eternally thankful.
Grace left this morning for the Frio River for the next 6 days with a family from church. They asked her to go on vacation with them months ago and now again, God is showing his plan by making their trip the same weekend that we needed to send the kids somewhere so that we might get down to Houston and house hunt. What a blessing and she gets to have a blast with her friend, Jackson!!
Susie and Parker leave this afternoon with 2 friends that are taking their sweet daughters to Summer Experience at Harding. Again, I totally see God's work in this trip. I mean really, for them to go to Searcy, have room in their car, and want to take a 2 year old and a 5 year old with them?? If you look for God's plan...it is so there, right before your eyes so many times.
Aaron leaves for a teaching trip to Shreveport this afternoon and I will have the house to myself to finish cleaning so that we can put it on the market as soon as we get back. I'm going to be a crazy cleaning woman for the next 40 hours or so....When he gets back Thursday night, we'll figure out what we need to do and then early Friday morning we head out to Katy to look at some houses with the realtor.
So...now that you have read this long post...what can you do?? Pray, pray and pray some more...I could go through the list, but I think you know what. Pray for traveling safely for all of us, pray we find a house, pray we sell our house here....etc, etc, etc. God knows.

Where does the time go?
I know...I'm a horrible blogger as of late. I don't think that when I started this blog 4 years ago, that I would still be posting....maybe, but I don't know. We lived in Alaska then....2005. Wow! That seems not that long ago, but it was 2 moves and a baby less then! Things do change quickly when you have 3 kids and a sports loving husband...he he he. :) I just looked back at my first few blogs. I think then only Reagan, my mom, sister and mother-in-law read my blog then. Now, it's been so long since I've posted, it's probably the same 4 people! :) So, for you 4 readers, that we never get to see but would love to have a visit from....here is an update and then I'll get back on the ball this week!!

We had a big softball game and picnic at the park with our small group...here some of the kids that came!!
Aaron and I have been staying busy with work (well, he has) and with church. I bet our kids think it is their second home and I couldn't be happier about that....I love our church family and our friends. Small group is going great and we love our Sunday nights up at the building! Our high school seniors are less than a week from graduation and we are so excited for them and all of their new opportunities in College in the fall....not that we won't miss them, but they know they always have a place to come home to at Legacy!! :)
That's about it with us....staying busy, loving our God, loving our friends and making it real with the time we have. It doesn't get much better than that!
Susannah graduated from Pre-K and is so ready for Kindergarten in the fall. Everytime we drive by her "new school" she yells, "KINDERGARTEN, HERE I COME!!" Yeah, she is just a little excited. She and her friend Ryan have been playing a lot lately. He invited her out for a little "date" last week and she loved it. They went to see Frog and Toad's Big Adventure (with his mom) at Casa Manana. She was dressed in record time and waiting by the door for them to drive up. I think that they giggled all the way to the play. Good friends and fun times!

She's been invited to play on a u10 team this next year and she is excited about being with her "older friends"....remember, she is only 7. She's going to 2 softball camps starting on Monday so that should help her skills before fall ball starts in September. He has started spelling his name to the tune of Bingo "P-A-R-K-E-R and that's how we spell Parker!!" Aaron went and threw me a curve ball last week when he taught him how to use the restroom standing up. I have been perfectly happy with him sitting down and using the potty. Aaron thought other-wise, but to Parker's credit...He has been doing GREAT!!! Of course, he thinks he is a big kid so that probably helps out even more, but he's doing a super job right now, for sure.

He wants to go when??
I married a Trekkie. Not a full blown," has the costumes and goes to the conventions, Trekkie," but "we go to the movies RIGHT when they come out, Trekkie." When we went to Las Vegas for the first time a few years ago, we went to the Star Trek Exhibit. Don't even ask me how much that cost. All I can say it that we didn't get to go see a show that night. YIKES! They are very proud of their memorabilia, for sure!
So, what does he just send me? An e-mail asking if we want to go to the 10:40 showing of this movie....All I have to do now is find a babysitter who we can wake up when we get home at 2 am!! Star Trek, here we come!

Hug your babies
Yesterday during church I was hugging my girls really hard. Bethany and Jenna were working in the toddler nursery, so Parker was in there playing with them. Communion time was quiet and all I could think about was the Rine family in Searcy and about their great loss. I know that they are hurting so much and missing their sweet Micah.
I'm sure that Susie thought I was about the hug the life out of her, but it just made me reflect on how very thankful that I am for the love we have in Christ. He loved us so much that he went to the cross and then defeated death and rose again! WOW....Micah is with him and singing with the angels in Heaven because of Christ. Hug your babies extra tight today and be thankful for what Christ did for all of us.

The Harding family mourns, and our hearts ache over the tragic loss of Micah Rine (‘06) Pate on Thursday, April 30, in Bartlett, Tenn. She is the daughter of Dennis (’78) and Terri Pittman (’82) Rine and the sister of Casey (’01) Rine. Micah’s roots are deep in the Harding family, and she was a joy to everyone who knew her. Dennis is the baseball coach, teacher and guidance counselor at Harding Academy. Terri taught in the family and consumer science department at Harding for many years. Her grandparents are Floyd and Patty Rine, who retired from Camp Tahkodah, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Pittman of Proctorville, Ohio. Her aunts and uncles are: Mel (’84) and Lori Pittman (’85) Sansom , John (’98) and Penny Rine (’82) Hitt and Tim (’02) and Becky (’94) Rine. She is also survived by a host of cousins and friends.
Micah was a graduate of Harding Academy and the College of Nursing at Harding University. She was a member of Zeta Rho social club. Always thinking of others, she recently cut her hair for Locks of Love. She was a nurse’s nurse and the best of the best. On Tuesday, she celebrated her 26th birthday.
One of her high school friends, Justin Mueller, told her once that she was so kind that he knew she had a full scholarship to heaven. We believe that is true. When Darren Mathews (’90) drove her truck back to Searcy, he turned on her CD player and wondered what was the last song she heard. It was “Blessed be the Name of the Lord.” Our hearts are heavy, and the rain has fallen since her passing like tears from heaven. Through our grief and sorrow, we rejoice in her victory in Jesus. As an avid runner and a Christian, she finished the race, kept the faith and will receive her crown of righteousness.
Visitation with the family will be on Monday, May 4, from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Heritage Lobby at Harding University. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, at 2 p.m. in the Harris Gym at Harding Academy.
Memorials may be made in memory of Micah to the Harding Academy Wildcat Trust Fund, Box 12238, Searcy, AR 72149

Too much stuff on my mind....
Oh my word...I know I say that phrase so much but it is true for our past 24 hours.
You know us, we have lived in the far corners of the U.S. Really....Alaska, S. Texas, Florida....You name it, we have probably lived there and loved it. We have loved every part of our lives and our moving, but here is where we love being right now and it is home for us.
Aaron called yesterday morning from work, "Hey, do you want to move to Houston?" I totally thought he was kidding...you know with the whole swine flu thing going around and all and just brushed him off. I told him to call me back later when he was really serious.
He called back 10 minutes later and I was crying buckets 30 seconds into the conversation. With cutbacks and people getting fired left and right, his company is "re-shuffling" everyone around to keep their "best" players (as we were told yesterday.) They offered Aaron a position in Houston. For the first time in his career with his company, Aaron told his boss no....He told him that we love our family here, our kids are in school and we really don't want to leave. His boss told him that he respected him for the decision, but the "powers that be" may come back with a different answer.
Who knows?? I honestly don't even know what to pray for at this point. Well...that's not telling the truth because I was honestly on my knees begging God to let us stay here yesterday morning. I know what I WANT to happen, but does God have another plan? I don't know that answer.
God has opened wonderful opportunities up for us EVERYWHERE we have gone in the past 12 years. We have wonderful friends...all over the United States because he led us all of these neat and far off places.
Am I thankful???
You bet!!
Do I want to move again??
NOOO!
Yet, I will rejoice in the Lord, whatever the decision may be that comes. He loves us and He is always there.
Am I crying right now?
Yes, I love my church family here, dearly. I love my children's friends and hate the thought of uprooting my kids from them and their home.
Will we be okay? Yes. God will watch us and protect us where ever we go.... It's just a little too hard to think about right now.
Whatever Aaron's bosses come back with, whenever they come back with their answer....we will be fine....I just thought I would let ya'll know about our past 24 hours so that you don't wonder why I just might not be smiling quite so big or have some big streaks down my face.

His new toy!
Aaron has been dreaming of this car for years. When we moved to the big city, he started looking around. You know, more car lots, more possibilities....of course now there is e-bay motors and craigslist. I think Aaron's computer could find those sites on it's own after the past 2 years of looking....not kidding.
He found this car on craigslist from a dealer and bought it by himself. Yes folks, that means that he bought it with OUT asking his dear and sweet wife (that would be me, if you were wondering...) He met us at church Wednesday night and I didn't see him until after class. All of his buddies kept looking at me and now I know why. They were waiting to see if I would explode at my husband for buying a car without asking. Nope. Okay, maybe a little bit because I would have wanted to see his face when he first saw the car in person for the first time, but no explosion. :)
He loves this car....He has been dreaming of this car...and even more...His bonus this year paid for this car, so who am I to take that away from the man I love?? He works hard at what he does and I think it is only fitting that his bonus pays for his new to him (it's used) car. He is so stinkin' happy and so am I!!
Now I just have to learn how to drive it and by that I mean it has some fancy race car system in it that is so cool and weird all at the same time!!
He found this car on craigslist from a dealer and bought it by himself. Yes folks, that means that he bought it with OUT asking his dear and sweet wife (that would be me, if you were wondering...) He met us at church Wednesday night and I didn't see him until after class. All of his buddies kept looking at me and now I know why. They were waiting to see if I would explode at my husband for buying a car without asking. Nope. Okay, maybe a little bit because I would have wanted to see his face when he first saw the car in person for the first time, but no explosion. :)
He loves this car....He has been dreaming of this car...and even more...His bonus this year paid for this car, so who am I to take that away from the man I love?? He works hard at what he does and I think it is only fitting that his bonus pays for his new to him (it's used) car. He is so stinkin' happy and so am I!!

Finally....a post!!
I've have been harassed to the point where I guess I actually do need to put up a new post or just quit blogging all together....don't worry, I won't quit! Things have been super busy around here with both girls playing softball (in different towns-not recommended), Aaron playing softball and basketball and then I still have the PTA and we all have lots of stuff with church. Love it all, just super busy....all the time! But, that is life and we wouldn't change a thing....
HMMMM....what is new? Okay, I'll post the Easter pics, but even newer is that Aaron went out and bought his dream car. Did I mention that he didn't even tell me??? I knew he would get it (the car, that is) because it was a super deal. We sold the 4-Runner to one of our favorite girls from church, gonna miss that old car. We bought it when we first got married and it's been all the (many) places that we have been and helped make many memories. I know Bethany will love it and I will love that she gets to take it to HU and make her own memories!
Easter Sunday at Nana and Papa's house is big tradition in the James Family. The kids all got WAY too much candy and lots of toys. They loved their new movies, too!
We were in Searcy, so we had to see one of our favorite Harding Students, Collin!! He did great in Spring Sing and we went to see one of their Good News Singers Concerts on campus.
We dyed eggs with Aunt Jess at Nana's house...notice the gloves...we did not want blue hands for Easter Sunday!
