Yet another lesson learned by experience...

Yesterday morning, I was woken up quite early to the sound of a 2 year old throwing up right in my ear. (Yes, Sus, you got sick right next to me, but I guess that is what I get for going in the middle of the night and laying down with you and Grace.)
The pillow was in sad shape, so when I couldn't clean it all off with just hand washing, I put the pillow in the washer (with the sheets and a few other things as well) on the gentle cycle. The load finished and when I opened the machine, "POOF" I was met by a whole washing machine full of feathers!! Yes, I know, what was I thinking when I washed an old feather pillow of my grandmothers (which, by the way, I have no idea if she knows I have one of her old pillows, so lets keep that part quiet :) ) But, I honestly did not know that the pillow had a hole in it and would break apart in my washing machine. Yes, Mom, I'm sure you taught me never to put a feather pillow in the washing machine, I just have a terrible memory and I forgot.
By the way, I did get most of the feathers out, but if you see a feather on me or my children, now you know why.
